Dala Flat Music, founded in 2003 by DJ/producer andre manuel, and writer, performance poet Chantel Erfort, is a product of passion.

We're a black-owned independent record label operating on the Cape Flats - an impoverished area in Cape Town where many people of colour found themselves forcibly relocated under the apartheid regime's Group Areas Act of the 1970s. But while the area may be rife with poverty and violence, it is also one rich with culture and talent, alive with creativity.

This is the area we work in.
Through our work we strive to preserve and promote our musical and cultural heritage and to date we have worked with many prominent musicians and artists, organised events, made live recordings of artists performing at these events,and remixed indigenous Cape compositions.

There is much we can say about our label and the work that we do, but we'd rather you take a look at our site and check out the kind of events we organise and the kind of musicians we work with.
