First Release - RockArt
March marks a milestone in the history of Dala Flat Music. Yes, March marks the arrival of the very first official release in our catalogue. We proudly present DFM001CD - and also progressive Khoi/electronic crossover outfit, RockArt's first release, Future Cape.
From it's early beginnings as a full band featuring the dreamer of the RockArt dream, Hilton Schilder and accompanying musicians on guitar, bass, drums and vocals, with electronic input fromDJ/producer André Manuel, to it's present day form - Hilton accompanied by producer, Alex van Heerden - RockArt has journeyed through stories of slavery to songs of healing and tribute. And from the beginning of it all, was Dala Flat Music, whose dream ran parallel to that of RockArt.
Future Cape features an eclectic mix of songs ranging from the haunting sounds of Anna Bongelo in Bitter Lewe, to a terrifying Cape Flats diatribe in Ladies' Night in Car-Atom, to celebrations, tributes like Duiwepiek and Russel.
RockArt's Future Cape, was recorded by Magnus Bank Johanssen in Sweden in 2005, and mastered by Dave Subkleve at the Audiolounge in Mowbray, Cape Town.
RockArt will be released in March, with the official launch taking place in May after André returns from the NextWave Festival in Oz, and Hilton and Alex return from their European tour. If you'd like to purchase a copy of RockArt's Future Cape, email info@dalaflat.com
We thank everyone who shared in the dream and supported the pursuit of painting this picture, this RockArt.
