In November 2005 Dala Flat Music was represented by Jy7even and Brandon Florus, and Trudy Rushin at the annual Provincial Arts and Culture Awards at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town.

The prestigious event, attended by various high ranking government officials and leaders in the arts and culture arena, gave us the opportunity to show government what we've been writing to them about for all these years. Let's hope they listened because most seemed more interested in the food they were being served than what was happening on stage!

While this was not the kind of event where the audience engaged with you on an intellectual level - they were there primarily to be entertained and awarded - it was a very credible space for us to showcase our work, and we thank Jon, Brandon, Trudy and André for their sterling performances on the night.

Because each of our artists was only asked to perform one song each, it was essential to hit the right note. So, Jon and Brandon set the tone with If all were Said, and André and Trudy showed what we mean by progressive and cutting edge with their collaboration on Trudy's Biding My Time.
